Naguib Mahfouz, the most celebrated Arab novelist, won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1988, and his first editions are prized by collectors worldwide.
Many of his early novels were published by Maktabat Misr in Cairo, with covers that carry the character of their time, from his historical novels to the Cairo Trilogy.
Collectors look for first editions, cover condition, intact pages and, at best, an inscription. Our section The World of Naguib Mahfouz gathers his older editions.
