In 1892 Jurji Zaidan published the first issue of Al-Hilal in Cairo, beginning one of the longest-running Arabic cultural magazines.
Al-Hilal set out to share knowledge in accessible language across history, literature, science and thought, and generations of leading Arab writers filled its pages.
Collectors enjoy it twice over: for its content, and for its vintage design and advertisements that reveal everyday life in their time.
Because we love this magazine, every Nora Inkwell parcel comes with a vintage issue of Al-Hilal as a free gift.
