The accompanying French edition was awarded First Prize at the 1978 Frankfurt Book Fair. Among five language editions, this Saudi Ministry complimentary issue remains the most uncommon variant on the market.
Abdelaziz Frikha (1942–2017), pioneer of Tunisian art photography, was among the first photographers granted intimate access to the Holy Sites — producing imagery of unprecedented reverence. The text by Tunisian scholar Ezzedine Guellouz (1932–2023) frames the pilgrimage within its historical, spiritual, and ritual dimensions.
